KOSCIUSKO COUNTY — Two area residents have been arrested in conjunction to drug related charges.
Police allege on Oct. 22, Vanessa E. Arnold, 20, Warsaw, purchased pseudoephedrine from Walgreens at 8:15 a.m. After a related drug arrest, officers discovered Arnold and Stanley Cripps, 25, Bourbon, had been manufacturing methamphetamine in Arnod’s apartment, located at 202 Argonne Road, Apt. 9, Warsaw.
Approximately three hours following Arnold’s purchase of pseudoephedrine, officers observed Cripps and a related individual exit Owens grocery store, enter a small passenger car and leave. Officers followed the vehicle to Arnold’s apartment where they spoke with Cripps and the individual. After speaking with the two individuals, it was determined Cripps had disposed of chemical reagents associated with the manufacturing of meth in the Claypool area.
Cripps accompanied police to the Carr Lake Public Access Site where he reportedly dumped the precursors near a wooded area. Police located a 32 ounce container of liquid lightening drain opener, an instant cold pack, an 18 ounce can of Drano professional strength, a 26 ounce container of salt , one opened box of 200 count Brew Rite coffee filters, a black plastic funnel and a length of clear tubing.
When officers first approached Cripps, Arnold approached and stated she had traded a box of pseudophedrine for methamphetamine. Officers were then given permission to search the apartment where they located a small bag of white powder, later field tested and identified as methamphetamine. Cripps admitted he and others had smoked or injected the drug earlier in the day.
Police also located glass smoking devices with residue, but straws, aluminum foil with burn marks and a plastic bag, all of which tested positive for methamphetamine.
Arnold reportedly confessed to police the bag of methamphetamine located inside the residence was hers and admitted to the trading of pseudoephedrine for methamphetamine.
Arnold was arrested for one count of possession of methamphetamine and maintaining a common nuisance, both level 6 felony charges. Cripps was arrested on one count of possession of two or more chemical reagents or precursors with intent to manufacture a controlled substance, also a level 6 felony charge. Cripps was booked with a $5,250 surety and cash bond. Arnold was booked with both a $5,000 surety and $250 cash bond.
