ROCHESTER — A Rochester man with an outstanding warrant was arrested with large quantities of drugs and a short barrel rifle in his possession Sunday, Sept. 22.
According to a press release from the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, Senior Deputy Mitchell Scott observed Solomon Newcomb, 29, Rochester, enter a vehicle at Northgate Apartments, Rochester. Scott knew Newcomb had an active felony arrest warrant out of Pulaski County.
Scott conducted a traffic stop, and Newcomb fled the vehicle. A short time later, Newcomb was taken into custody without incident.
A subsequent search of Newcomb and the vehicle revealed a short barrel rifle, ammunition, approximately 153 grams of methamphetamine, marijuana and paraphernalia.
Newcomb was lodged in the Fulton County Jail with a $50,000 surety bond on the following charges:
- Dealing methamphetamine
- Possession of methamphetamine
- Unlawful possession of a syringe
- Resisting law enforcement
- Possession of marijuana with a prior conviction
- Possession of paraphernalia with a prior conviction
- Pulaski County felony arrest warrant
Assisting Deputy Scott was Deputy Jared Parish, Thomas Bauter, the Rochester Police Department, and the Indiana State Police.
