Pierceton Police just reported that Fort Wayne Police have located the child in Fort Wayne.
Kudos were expressed by Pierceton Police to the Indiana State Police, Fort Wayne Police and Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office for a successful result.
A drug arrest early this morning has turned into a search for a missing 9-month-old infant. The mother was arrested at 2:25 a.m.
The public’s help is being asked in helping locate a 9-month-old female infant who was left by her mother with an unknown female at Traveler’s Inn, Coliseum Boulevard, Fort Wayne.
Unfortunately, no further description of the female adult who may have the child or the child is available at time of posting. A photo is expected to be provided.
The child’s mother, Rachel Lynne Stevens, gave police a first name of the woman who may have the child, but it is unknown if the name is authentic.
Fort Wayne police have gone to the motel to locate the infant, only to learn the occupants of the room where the mother allegedly left the child had checked out last evening.
Indiana State Police have also been called in to help in locating the infant.
Authorities state the female, who is allegedly in possession of the child. is not in any type of trouble. The main concern at this point is locating the infant.
The story began when a clerk at the Marathon station at US 30 and SR 13 notified police early this morning of a female passed out in a vehicle. Police found Rachel Lynne Stevens, 20, 4611 W. Sample St., South Bend, passed out and in possession of marijuana, methamphetamine and cocaine or black tar heroin. Bond: $2,000.
Pierceton police are reporting that it wasn’t until 1.5 hours into the investigation, they learned about the infant. During the booking process, information Stevens was providing were not adding up.
